On 20 September 1977, David Bowie, Rod Stewart, and other British music stars came together to mourn Marc Bolan, the frontman and driving force of rock band T. Rex. The 29-year-old died four days before in a car crash in the London district of Barnes. His funeral was held at Golders Green Crematorium in North London.
