TSMC is building a massive semiconductor fabrication facility (fab) in Phoenix.It's a massive $65B investment but when fully operational it will require 1.2 gigawatts of power.
For context, this is the equivalent of powering roughly 900,000 homes.
Nearby, there is a nuclear plant (Palo Verde) that produces ~ 4 GW.
This means that TSMC will eventually consume over 25% of the power generated from the largest nuclear plant in the USA.
