This is a Motormouth couple car review of the Toyota Highlander Hybrid with some nice changes to this mid-size SUV for 2023. The Highlander Hybrid has a 2.5L 4-cylinder with Toyota’s hybrid synergy drive, it’s matched to an ECVT with 243 combined horsepower. Standard AWD in Canada, FWD and AWD options available on all trims in the US. What’s new for 2023? The Toyota Highlander Hybrid Limited and Platinum models now have power folding exterior mirrors, a 12.3” touchscreen and a 12.3” digital driver display. Toyota has also added on LE and XLE trims a standard 7” gauge cluster, gone is the 4.2” gauge cluster. Cypress a new colour option has been added and is available on XLE and Limited grades. Toyota has also moved the wireless charger from the centre console box to the instrument panel shelf for easy access and convenience. Fuel economy is excellent for such a large vehicle getting 6.7L/100 km, 35 MPG city and 6.8L/100 km, 35 MPG highway. The Highlander offers 8” of ground clearance and comes standard with LED headlamps, available premium LED headlights, standard LED taillights, fog lamps, 18” wheels, available 20” wheels and a temporary spare tire. We have the XLE Bronze Edition in Wind Chill Pearl, 18” satin bronze finished wheels, a cloth interior with bronze stitching and trim, power driver and passenger seats, driver seat memory, heated steering wheel, power rear door with kick sensor, 2nd row captain’s chairs and a moonroof. Features like ventilated front seats, leather upholstery, panoramic sunroof, wireless charger and the 11-speaker JBL sound system are available on the Limited trim. The Platinum trim has some extra features like heated second row seats, a head-up display, bird’s eye view camera and a digital display rear-view mirror.
