A condition where obesity impairs breathing during sleep and wakefulness.

Excess body weight causes decreased space for the lungs to expand, leading to short shallow breaths. 

Chronic hypoventilation leads to low levels of oxygen in the blood and CO₂ accumulation in the bloodstream

Majority of OHS patients also have obstructive sleep apnea (OSA)

OHS can lead to heart failure, pulmonary hypertension
