On 8 August 2006, Alastair Stewart interviewed Benjamin Netanyahu in the midst of the Lebanon War.
Hezbollah fighters had fired rockets into Israel on 12 July precipitating the conflict. Israel responded with a large scale ground offensive which continued until the UN brokered a ceasefire on 14 August 2006. Thousands were left wounded, displaced or dead by the conflict with Lebanese civilians being the worst affected.
Here Netanyahu stresses the need for Israel to combat the "tentacle of Iranian aggression" with Hezbollah in the North and Hamas in the South.
