Jumbo was a short lived Norwegian band which was formed in1969 and broke up in 1970. In that short period the band released three singles and started working on an album, in addition to heavy gigging around the country. The first and third single are more pop schlager oriented for unknown reasons, but their second single, which this video high lights is a heavy classic. It is considered Norway's first heavy rock record. The line up consisted of Freddy Lidnquist (lead guitar), Svein Finjarn (vocals & rythm guitar), Tore Syvertsen (bass) and Leif Jensen (drums).
During recording sessions for their debut album both Tore Syvertsen and Freddy Lindquist left the band. Leif Jensen and Svein Finjarn completed the album and it was released as Finjarn/Jensen, a highly collectible and sought after progressive rock album.
Freddy Lindquist recorded his solo debut the same year. Menu is considered one of the finest Norwegian albums in the heavy progressive genre and fetches astronomical sums if an original turns up for sale.
Jumbo's secone single UFO/Wring That Neck is also highly regarded and collectible.
This video contains the only known film of Jumbo.
Fun fact: Freddy and Tore have plugged their guitar and bass together with a guitar lead. Svein has "plugged" his guitar lead into the drumkit. This was a passiv aggressive protest against playback and lip syncing.
