In this video, I compare the new Strymon EC1- single dTape echo to the older Strymon El Capistan dTape echo.

Can we replicate the same sounds with both? Let's find out!

*Note: in the video, I mention that the EC-1 has more volume and output. That's because I set the Rec Level switch to Mid or High which adds 6 or even 12dbs, compared to the El Capistan only having a 3db boost available. What I misunderstood, is that the rec level controls bias which adds more saturation - and I adjusted bias accordingly in the secondary functions of the El Capistan to match it - but it also adds higher input signal boost, much lower than what the El Capistan does. So there was no way for me to closely match the volume AND bias settings on both pedals, hence the volume difference I mentioned in the video. I feel it is an important distinction to point out!
