Here's why it's not a bad thing when restaurants run out of food. 

If they never run out of food, you can bet that they're using pre-made or frozen ingredients that they can just toss in the fryer and serve.

When a place runs out of an item, it's because they're using fresh ingredients and it is popular enough that they sold out of it. 

Mind you, this doesn't mean you should be running out mid-day every day. Don't be a jack@ss about it.
