French President Emmanuel Macron Sues Candace Owens Over Claims His Wife Is a Man #shorts

Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron have sued political commentator Candace Owens over false claims that the French president’s wife is trans.

The French president and his wife filed a defamation lawsuit against the American far-right political commentator on 23 July.

The Macrons describe Owens’ alleged actions, which included releasing an eight-part audio and video series on the false trans conspiracy theory, as a “relentless and unjustified smear campaign”.

The defamation complaint, which is 219 pages long, was filed in Delaware state court on Wednesday and names Owens and her business entities, which are incorporated in the Democratic state.

It claims that Owens perpetuated “demonstrably false” claims about Brigitte’s gender identity across her social media platforms to rally her “frenzied fan base” in “pursuit of fame”.

“These lies have caused tremendous damage to the Macrons,” the lawsuit reads, adding that the false claims subjected the French first lady and president to “a campaign of global humiliation, turning their lives into fodder for profit-driven lies”.

“Owens has dissected their appearance, their marriage, their friends, their family, and their personal history — twisting it all into a grotesque narrative designed to inflame and degrade,” the lawsuit claims.

“The result is relentless bullying on a worldwide scale. Every time the Macrons leave their home, they do so knowing that countless people have heard, and many believe, these vile fabrications. It is invasive, dehumanising, and deeply unjust.”

Filed in Superior Court, the 22-count complaint seeks damages against the influencer and her companies, and includes punitive damages.

Owens shared a screenshot on Instagram of the Financial Times’ coverage of the lawsuit, and seemingly responded: “It’s the way that I keep learning about my life through the press.

“I will be coming for this wig today. Stay tuned,” she wrote on a subsequent story with a picture of the Macrons.

The commentator also took to YouTube on Wednesday evening for a livestream, titled BREAKING! Brigitte Sues Me For Defamation. In the video, Owens said: “The life of Candace Owens works like this. I wake up, I stretch, I have a cup of coffee, and then I am served with a lawsuit.

“I think that’s the morning routine my friends, that is clearly my morning routine. It is so effortless. And today, I have been sued by the first ladyman of France.”

The hour-long video sees Owens explaining to her followers, in her own words, why the Macrons are suing her. The podcaster doubled down on her treatment of Brigitte, calling her “a goofy man” and commenting on Brigitte’s previous libel case against two women in France.

“I’m ready for this fight. Trust me, I am ready for this fight,” Owens said.
