After dropping the first two games of a four-game set against nationally ranked Oregon State, the University of Hawai‘i baseball team bounced back in a big way on Sunday with a 5-0 shutout victory at Les Murakami Stadium.

The Rainbow Warriors entered the day having won 12 of their last 13 Sunday home games and improved to 23-6 on Sundays under head coach Rich Hill. Riding that momentum, freshman starter Cooper Walls delivered a dominant outing, holding the No. 7-ranked Beavers (34-12) hitless through four innings. The 6-foot-5 right-hander from California threw five scoreless frames with five strikeouts to earn the win.

Hawai‘i’s offense backed him up early and often, highlighted by catcher Konnor Palmeira’s first home run of the season. The Kamehameha-Maui graduate launched a solo shot to left, sparking a Rainbow Warrior offense that saw contributions across the lineup.

The victory marks Hawai‘i’s first home win over a top-7 ranked opponent in a decade and sets up the possibility of a series split heading into Monday night’s finale.

UH improved to 29-16 overall. First pitch for Monday’s series finale is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
