Whether you're on the iOS 26 beta or the final release, this complete guide shows you how to safely downgrade any iPhone or iPad from iOS 26 to iOS 18, provided iOS 18 is still being signed. You'll also learn how to restore your iOS 18 backup—if it was created before upgrading. This method works on both Windows and Mac, and supports all compatible devices.

Restore iOS 26 Backup to iOS 18:

Windows Only — No Data Loss Downgrade to iOS 18.5:
1. Back up your iDevice running iOS 26 using iTunes.
2. Open the backup folder:
 Press Win + R, then enter:
 %appdata%\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
 Open the folder that matches your device’s UDID (you can get the UDID from iTunes the same way you got the model identifier in the demo — just click on the serial number).
3. Open the Info.plist file in that folder with a text editor (like Notepad).
4. Press Ctrl + F and search for Product Version.
5. Change its value to 18.5.
6. Press Ctrl + F again and search for the Build Version.
7. Change its value to 22F76 & save it.
Now restore backup after downgrading to iOS 18.5.
