At Oregon State University, the Plane Surveying class teaches construction engineering management students about land surveying and topographic mapping. They also learn how to use of field surveying equipment such as the total station and satellite positioning.On this day they were learning how to set up the instrument and measure angles and distances to objects around them. Next they will do a survey that is like the one they would perform around the perimeter of a construction site or property boundary.
