Bassment @ Shelter with Ben Huang !

Bassment is a techno minimal oriented event hosted at The Shelter, established in early 2011. Originally aiming to bring dark, progressive techno rhythms of Shanghai producers and DJ's. However, over many months it has morphed into a showcase of experimental, live and new techno minimal as well as keeping its original goal of creating an atmosphere of bass and progression. Bassment has heard its fair share of techno minimal and is planning on giving back to this growing creative community. As a way of displaying the appreciation, Bassment is compiling a set of original works of its DJ's and producers that have defined, not only Bassment but also the entire techno scene in Shanghai and China.

Ben Huang kick-started Beijing's club scene back in the mid-nineties.
He introduced the young funky things of Beijing and Shanghai to the international sounds of 'real' club beats. Ben Huang nurtured his own avant-garde style in the clubs of Beijing and Shanghai. His creative expression comprised of varying styles from Disco,Funk,
Jazz, House to Techno. Huang's music transported Beijing and Shanghai's small underworld and kicked down its doors to the sounds from Paris to Berlin. "Music inspires me, I use music
to inspire people. I just trust my feeling with any music I hear."

In no time, Huang became one of the most heavily sought after DJs in Beijing and Shanghai. His sounds impressed European promoters and made him one of the funkiest exports to come
out from the Middle Kingdom. Huang became one of the first ever Chinese DJ to break into the international scene, playing in venues from the Parisian Elysee-Montmartre, Tresor Berlin to the famed Zurich Street Parade, alongside the world's best. He has shared the stage with the likes of Laurent Garnier, Derrick May, Ritchie Hawtin and burned the airwaves on Paris' Radio FG. Back home, Huang helped organize the ultimate rave event "The Great Wall Party", Ben Huang is indeed the pioneer of clubbing in China and has garnered praise and respect from his peers at home and abroad. His current mix work for artists like Faye Wong keep him
one of the most in-demand DJ's in China.

I went to the Bassment event two times already, heard Steven's set and Acid Pony's live. This time I brought some Techno vinyls from my collection that I like, acquired from the past 10 years. I buy them every time I am in the EU, or I order online. However when I started Dj-ing I would ask friends to help me out.
I have not had the chance to play these records in a long time.
Labels such as: Novamute, Musicman, Tresor, Sino, Bosh, Roasion, etc.
Some tracks that I played: Coloured City -- Laurent Garnier, Ghett o Freak -- Techasia, Hardwired -- Henrik B, Steve Rachmad, John Tomas, Dave Angel, etc.
