A collection of reports covering the War of the Cities, the later phase of the Iran–Iraq War which saw the belligerents exchange missile attacks against their respective capitals, Baghdad and Tehran, as well as other major cities. Initiated by Saddam Hussein's Iraqi Air Force, the War of the Cities would have long lasting consequences for the region, highlighting Iran's vulnerability to long range air attack and triggering a drive by the Iranian military to develop an extensive arsenal of ballistic missiles capable of deterring and responding to similar attacks in the future.
