🎶 Giovanni Zamboni (early 18th century) was an Italian Baroque composer and master of many plucked instruments. His Sonate d’intavolatura di liuto (Rome, 1718) is one of the last major collections for the baroque lute.
💃 In Sonata No. 9, the Gavotte stands out for its bright, energetic character—it’s performed faster than the traditional moderate tempo usually associated with this French court dance. The lively tempo gives it a playful, almost celebratory tone.
📍 In the context of Baroque sonatas, the Gavotte often appears in the middle or later movements, providing contrast to slower, more lyrical sections like the Sarabande or Prelude. It usually follows a binary form (AABB) and offers a rhythmic and dance-like highlight within the suite.
