Deuteronomy, off the mark at the 29th attempt last time, looked on dodgy ground in his bid to follow up at Leopardstown on Thursday evening as he was declared to run in a visor. However, trainer Robbie Burns mistakenly fitted his horse with blinkers!
Not allowed to run in different headgear, a SOS call went out for a spare visor at the 11th hour with horses milling at the start ahead of the concluding 8.20 race. Deuteronomy, meanwhile, had to be confined to the pre-parade ring as he had to wear the correct, specified headgear down to the start in order to be eligible for the race. But would a visor be found in time?
Fellow trainer Ado McGuinness came up trumps - and with small trainer Burns leading up his runner, McGuinness even fitted the visor out on the track! - with Deuteronomy and rider Nicola Burns all set to go and in decent enough time in the second division of the BoyleSports "Best Odds From 8am" Handicap.
