Perdurabo on TikTok, also known as "Jax Squared," is a Michigan-based couple, both named Jax, who are both trans, non-binary, and autistic. They educate their audience on LGBTQ+ issues and mental health. The couple consists of 29-year-old Jax, who has Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), and 24-year-old Jax, who is semi-verbal. Initially using the term “nonverbal,” they explained why semi-verbal, or selective mutism, is a better label for Jax.
The account originally began with just older Jax, but after their partner-to-be commented on one of their videos a connection formed leading to the TikTok account Perdurabo. A key part of their identity is their bold, colorful style, blending punk, goth, and alternative fashion.
Their distinctive outfits and hairstyles reflect both self-expression and sensory needs. Jax squared also showcased some incredible Halloween costumes throughout October. Jax has also addressed misconceptions about their trans identity, clarifying that being trans isn’t limited to transitioning from male to female or vice versa. Instead, they explain that trans is an umbrella term, and as a non-binary person, their transition is about transitioning away from binary gender concepts.
Despite facing criticism and hate for their content, they have consistently responded with composure, thoughtfully addressing negative comments in their videos.
