Growing up in a household flooded with vinyl records by Eric Dolphy, Dizzy Gillespie, and Miles Davis - to name only a few - most certainly left a mark on Wendy Marcini. Being captivated by the playfulness of jazz music from an early age, Wendy developed her own personal methods of voicing, with blues and pop being the cornerstone ingredients of her craft. Wendy belongs to the new era of Jazz-musicians, bridging the gap between generations with her timeless, sincere yet curious style, always reflected in her guiding principle: "When the music speaks for itself - that's when it affects me the most".

Much could be said about Wendy Marcini and her music but the main thing to highlight about her is what she really is - a fantasy! Swedish musician Rickard Nilsson had long dreamt of exploring the jazz side of his identity in addition to his work as a freelancing keyboard player.

"To create music as a different person is incredibly inspiring and it gives me the opportunity to travel across the limits of expression that I have often felt restricted by. When I realized that I could 'be someone else', be my own 'Jazz Avatar' everything seemed to fall into place.”

Together with his wife and creative companion, ceramic artist Felicia Öjemark Wiik, Rickard explores his female jazz-based alter ego Wendy Marcini. Felicia acts as the visual source of inspiration but she also plays the important part as Rickard's musical sounding board.
