Testament es una banda de Thrash Metal estadounidense formada en 1982 por el guitarrista Eric Peterson bajo el nombre de The legacy, quien mas adelante agregaría al excelente guitarrista Alex Skolnick, alumno de Joe Satriani y a Steve Souza en la voz, aunque poco tiempo después, éste ultimo dejaría la banda para unirse a Exodus y seria reemplazado por Chuck Billy y cambiarían su nombre por el de Testament.
Aunque en un principio su sonido era muy comparado con el de Metallica, con el pasar del tiempo lograron forjar su propia identidad en parte gracias a ese estilo reconocible y admirable de sus guitarras.
