On Sunday, Opposition Leader Pierre Poilievre criticized Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's weekend trip to the United States for a dinner meeting with president-elect Donald Trump, suggesting that Trudeau approached the discussion from a "position of weakness" rather than seeking gains for Canada.

Poilievre called on the Liberal government to formulate a strategy to bolster Canada's border safety.

Both Trudeau and Trump described their talks as "productive."
