ABOUT THIS VIDEO:
Recognized internationally with Descendants of Hill Country, a Grammy Award nominated album, Cedric Burnside imparts a particularly organic blues touch. Grandson of RL Burnside, the great figure of Mississippi hill country, the drummer, guitarist and singer gives, on the Nacelle stage in Aubergenville, an extremely convincing set. Supported by Trenton Ayers on guitar and bass, the Memphis native opens the festivities with “Do The Rump!” an authentic version of a classic by Junior Kimbrough; reinforces the deal with the significant “Don't Just Sing About The Blues”; and confirms a constant urgency with the funky "Hard Times." Completed with comments from Cedric Burnside about his grandfather, the peculiarities of Mississippi hill country blues (which is all about feeling), or an instrument like the drums, this authentic performance naturally recalls the influence of the genre on contemporary rock bands like the White Stripes or the Black Keys. And above all confirms the many crossovers between past and present as seen in this cover of the incredible "Boogie Chillen” by John Lee Hooker: a pure delight…
