The rumoured release date is April 1st... yeah, April Fool’s Day, but for longtime fans, that date carries extra weight. In Babymetal’s world, it’s also Fox Day, a time they’ve historically used for announcements. So while it raises eyebrows, it also fits right into their playbook.
It all kicked off from a Reddit thread where some eagle-eyed fans unearthed a curious listing in Japan’s NextTone copyright database. The entry? A track called From Me To U, is credited to Babymetal featuring Poppy. And to add even more intrigue, it’s allegedly produced by Jordan Fish, formerly of Bring Me The Horizon. It checks out on the surface, but yeah, faking entries for viral stunts isn’t unheard of, especially around April.
That said, if this pans out, it could be huge. Babymetal’s collaboration resume is already packed with heavy hitters like BMTH, Polyphia, Electric Callboy, and Bloodywood. A track with Poppy would only take their wild genre-fusion game to the next level.
Fingers crossed it’s the real deal and not just an elaborate prank!
