
Mods were clean-cut, wore sharp Italian suits and parkas, rode scooters fitted with a dozen or more rear-view mirrors and liked R&B, soul, ska
and beat groups like The Who and Small Faces.
Rockers wore black leather, rode motor cycles and liked rockabilly and American rock’n’roll - Eddie Cochran and Gene Vincent.
In the mid-1960s they famously battled it out at popular UK seaside resorts
on summer Bank Holiday weekends.
As rock and psychedelic music developed in 1967, the British Mod movement faded away.
