In this Dance Talk with Miami-based dance company Zest Collective, Artistic Director Gentry Isaiah George speaks about the inspiration behind his new work “The Fountain” that blends contemporary dance and immersive storytelling set to the moving strains of Negro Spiritual music and features recordings by Leontyne Price, Inez Matthews, and Jessye Norman.
Mr. George is joined by two company members, Deja Darbonne and Carlos Realegeno who share their experiences dancing in the amazing work, “Afro Blue” featuring a combination of jazz and Afro-Caribbean music, set to the hypnotic sounds of Abbey Lincoln and Mongo Santamaria. This insightful and informative conversation is moderated by Poet Arsimmer McCoy.
