Well that is the end of week 4 done and dusted. Both fireplaces are now more or less blocked off so next weeks task is to prep the walls for plastering by getting rid of all the holes and gaps and repoint the exposed stone walls.

I used 28 of my 30 blocks today so I guess I didn't order too many after all! French blocks are different to Irish blocks and at first I was a bit sceptical but there is a lot of sense to the way the any constructed. I also used some old bricks that were taken out of the walls and some that were being used as a flower bed edge in the garden. The cement mixer is well and truly dirty now as I have to use it in the house as I've no long lead which means doing a proper wash out is not possible. Roll on week 5 and there is only 4 weeks to Christmas!
