About Over the water Over the sea:
Diente de Madera & Betty Blight, longtime friends and collaborators come together to present Over the Water Over the Sea, an album of 18th and 19th century folk songs from Great Britain, performed in their unique way and recorded in Diente’s backyard studio in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Both Betty and Diente moved to Argentina from their respective towns and countries in the early 2000s, and each vacillated around the Buenos Aires music scene, composing, performing, recording, touring their versions of genres that mixed up their natal cultures with whatever they found in their chosen home of Argentina. As the years went by, their paths crossed more and more, their guitar and vocals-based folk an inevitable amalgam, and they began to work together on small projects.
Following a serious illness, Betty moved back to England in 2019, but returned briefly towards the end of 2023. This album was recorded live during 2 sessions in January 2024, with additional tracks added in the ensuing months. Gonzalo Rainaldi mixed and mastered the record at Crudo Estudios, Buenos Aires.
