Bristol's Reggae Sound System Veterans - Part 4 : Mabraka & Imperial Force - with General D & Mikey D............
Wicked in - depth interview with General D & Mikey D about the history of Mabraka Sound which General D joined at the end of 1985 during the 'live - deejay' era. General D talks about his time as one of Bristol's top Reggae sound system rappers or 'live deejays' during his time with Mabraka and the various sound system clashes that he took part in. General D also gives us a taste of his lyrical talent with a quick ad-hoc lyrical blast live on camera - which he wasn't expecting us to ask him to do !.. We follow Mabraka Sound's journey through the 1980's - where the sound changed it's name to 'Imperial Force' in 1988. Mikey D joined Imperial Force in the 1990's - when the sound was busy recording dubplate specials, organising big Reggae stage shows & dances in Bristol - as well as playing against some of the largest Reggae sound systems from Jamaica & the UK.
At the end of the video is a rare vintage live soundtape recording from 1986 - of the historic sound system clash in Bristol between Mabraka Sound & 'Ravers Supermix'. Ravers Supermix were one of Bristol's top Reggae sound systems in 1986 - but were memorably defeated on the night by Mabraka Sound with a mixture of live deejay lyrics & dubplate specials....
