Varis is an obscure german jazz/prog band from late '70's who manage to release only one album in 1979 selftitled. Good jazz fusion with prog elents, they remind me in places of Van Der Graaf Generator, maybe because the use of sax and flute in their arrangements, but as a whole Varis is more jazzier. Also they have a kraut feeling overall, that give them a special status in german scene from late '70's and yet not very original atmosphere
