Half Life 2, Postal, Manhunt, Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee or the Silent Hill games... they all have something in common; the beautifully haunting sounds from the Zero-G - Ghost in the Machine sample library, produced by Cuckooland (Simon Mills @OneHalfOfBent and Ian Sanderson) in 1996. It is the second volume of the Cuckooland sample CD trilogy, including "Unhinged", "Ghost in the Machine" and "Asylum". You can hear the samples in countless video games, as well as TV shows like the X-Files. I think it's hard to name a horror- or action game of the late 90s/2000s, that didn't use at least one of the samples. Imo the whole trilogy is an absolut piece of art!
