This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new Genesis GV70 luxury SUV. The GV70 premium compact luxury utility is in with some heavy hitters including the Audi Q5, BMW X3, Mercedes GLC, Volvo XC60. Lexus NXand Acura RDX to name a few.The GV70 is the first compact SUV from Genesis. It shares its powertrain lineup with the GV80 but with less weight to haul around. There are two engine options, a 2.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder with an 8-speed automatic transmission, 300 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque. The second is the more powerful 3.5L twin turbocharged V6 with an 8-speed automatic transmission, 375 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque. The GV70 comes with standard AWD. The Genesis GV70 has a distinctive exterior design with the crest grille and the wing inspired slim Quad LED headlights along with skid plates placed on the bottom of the bumper to give it a more dynamic look. In Canada, there are 6 trims to choose from, four with the 2.5T and two for the 3.5T. In the US, there are only two trims available, but you can add packages to the trims that range in price between $4,000 to $11,750 USD.The base GV70 model comes with 18” wheels, an activated hands-free tailgate opening, key-less entry with push button start and remote engine start. One up from the base model comes standard with 19” wheels and a panoramic sunroof. The top two trims on the 3.5T come with 21” wheels, electronic control suspension, monobloc brakes, sport appearance and an aluminum sports trim. The top trim comes with electronic limited slip differential and remote smart parking assist. The GV70 comes with two engines, a 2.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder with an 8-speed automatic transmission, 300 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque. The second is a 3.5L twin turbocharged V6 with 375 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque. This SUV comes with standard AWD and has the most powerful turbocharged 4-cylinder in its class and the highest torque in the 3.5T engine beating out its competitors like Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus and Acura. The base model 2.5T comes with a lot of standard features considering the price point of $49,999 CAD. It has a 14.5” touchscreen with navigation, an 8” LCD instrument display cluster, Apple Carplay and Android Auto, a wireless charger, heat front seats, leatherette seats, heated steering wheel, 12-way power adjustable drivers seat with power lumbar and an 8-way power front passenger seat. One up from the base model for an extra $6,000 CAD is the “best value” trim in my opinion. You’ll get leather seating, a panoramic sunroof, power folding outside mirrors, heated rear seats and ventilated fronts seats. Standard features two up from the base model include, a head-up display and an 18 speaker Lexicon audio system, it will cost you about $9,000 more than the base model and the 2.5T top trim comes with Nappa leather seats with suede trim. The Nappa leather quilted seats and a 12.3” LCD digital instrument cluster you see in the pictures are standard on the 3.5T top trim.
