Dunne, who recently completed her senior year in Baton Rouge, is still contemplating whether to return to college for her final season of gymnastics eligibility. In the meantime, many of her friends will travel to France as part of the U.S. Olympic team without her.
Although Dunne was not selected, it was never a likely scenario. She missed a significant portion of the season due to injury and did not meet the eligibility requirements. Team USA did not invite her to the Trials, and she did not qualify. That chapter of her career is behind her.
Despite not making it to the Olympics, Dunne remains an exceptionally talented gymnast. Her record proves it. Last season, she averaged scores of 9.857 on floor and 9.838 on bars across nine meets, with a particularly impressive performance on senior night.
Gymnastics is a notoriously challenging sport, a fact well-known to anyone familiar with it. Dunne highlighted this while humorously responding to her Team USA snub, sharing a video of her most memorable falls and mistakes, some of which were quite harsh.
