This is a well-known rock and roll song called “Jailhouse Rock” that was performed by an American singer Elvis Presley for a movie also called Jailhouse Rock. The song was written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. It was released on September 24, 1957 as part of the EP soundtrack to the film on RCA Victor’s 45 rpm single. It became an instant hit, reaching number-one in the United States and top ten in many other countries. This song has been highly praised receiving accolades from Grammy Hall of Fame and American Film Institute; it also spent seven weeks at number one in America and three weeks in UK charts. Moreover, this song topped US country chart along with R&B chart being listed on EPs where other songs from the film were featured in 1958; it did extremely well by topping Billboard’s EP chart within that year earning double-platinum record awarded by RIAA.

Elvis Presley began singing with Sun Records in Memphis in 1954. In late 1955, however, his contract shifted to RCA Victor. But by the end of 1956, he was already known worldwide. Elvis had an absolutely original manner and it involved a mix of music genres that he performed as well as rejection of social boundaries. He also worked in the field of acting making thirty-three films and appeared on television; moreover his concerts brought him into the record books. Globally, his records sold more than one billion copies and won three Grammy Awards among many other accolades. However loving his fans were, he served in the US Army. His talent, humility and kind heart made people love him. On August 16th, 1977 at age 42, Elvis died but he is not forgotten.
