Two sperm whales came to the aid of a diver during a dive off Mauritius, when he came face to face with an oceanic whitetip shark. The two 45-ton sperm whales intervened, driving the shark away and preventing it from getting any closer to the man, protecting him with their presence
An experience that will not be easily forgotten that of the very special escort. Benoît Girodeau was diving off the coast of Mauritius when he was spotted by an oceanic whitetip shark, a species known for its aggressiveness. According to experts, this fish represents one of the greatest dangers for survivors of air or naval disasters. The diver, also known as a reggae singer with the stage name Natty Gong, shared an incredible video, in which you can see the moment when two sperm whales of at least 45 tons approached him and drove away the shark that was approaching with a threatening look. At one point, one of the sperm whales seemed to be following the shark closely, pushing it further and further away from the man, who in the meantime filmed in amazement. Later the shark seemed to want to return to the diver, but at that moment a second cetacean entered the scene, which blocked its way, preventing the fish from getting any closer to the man. Thanks to the extraordinary protection offered by the two sperm whales, Girodeau was then able to safely reach his boat. According to Dr. Diana D'Agata, Veterinary Surgeon in the UK, oceanic whitetip sharks are rare, but considered among the most dangerous to humans. They are aggressive and opportunistic, and can grow up to 4 meters in length. The musical artist, notes Giovanni D'Agata, president of the "Sportello dei Diritti", was therefore very lucky to find two decidedly special bodyguards, who intervened at the right time.
