I'm kicking off 2023 with a true luxury icon—and one I never expected to own—the Panerai Luminor (PAM00048). In this video I return to a brand I never thought I'd enjoy so much, with an undervalued, modestly-sized, 40mm offering that's an absolute strap monster and can be found at an affordable price compared to retail offerings listed at more than twice as much. Once upon a time, I would have never imagined that one of the best value propositions in the watch industry would be a Panerai, but everything they got wrong with the more recent Luminor Due (which I previously reviewed) is not an issue with this far tougher, more capable, tooltastic, and largely forgotten older version. Join me for an unboxing, initial reaction and mini review of the Panerai Luminor, including its positives and negatives, and an in-depth look at its history and evolution. Despite the many controversies associated with the brand over the decades, it's never been a better time to buy a Panerai watch. What do you think of this watch and the Panerai brand? Please share in the comments!
