There is no chance of an Opposition wipe-out, said incoming secretary-general of Singapore's People's Action Party (PAP) Lawrence Wong at the PAP convention on Sunday (Nov 24). "There have been opposition MPs in Parliament continuously ever since 1981 and with the NCMP scheme we are guaranteed of having at least 12 opposition MPs in parliament. The Opposition in Singapore is here to stay," he said.

"Given the desire for more opposition voices, the bigger risk we face is the loss of a stable and good government," he said. Read more:
