Zahid Khan, 38, fled to Dubai in 2018 before he was sentenced for running a £500,000 car number plate scam. He was found guilty in his absence and given a 10-year prison sentence, West Midlands Police said. At Birmingham Crown Court earlier Khan was jailed for four weeks, to be served consecutively, after he admitted failing to appear at court. Khan, originally from Yardley Wood Road, Moseley, began serving his 10-year sentence the day after his return to the UK, after he was caught following a joint effort by police, Interpol and overseas law enforcement agencies. He was arrested by Turkish authorities on 27 November before being deported back to the UK on 22 December. #ZahidKhan #Birmingham #crime
