Just one row of boards to go in the morning and the floor is back in better than new. If you're thinking about buying an older house and it's made of stone dont' be put off if things are a bit wonky! The design is really simple and so too are the construction methods so generally things are fixable by even the handiest of people. All the joists were rotten in this floor so they all had to come out and be replaced. It's heavy work that is probably better undertaken by two people but it is very doable on your own if you're not under any time pressure as quite often you spend a bit of time thinking about the process before you do it and then thinking some more as you are doing it. We don't know the exact year our new house was built but we've been told some time in the 1930s and we are hoping to try and keep as many period features as possible although the reality is houses of the period were still cooking their food over a big open fire as you can see from the fireplace in the kitchen which still has all the pot hanging equipment bolt to the wall in the fireplace.
