The experimentation will depend on the density of the wine. The density of wine can vary from 10% to 31% on the areometer, depending on the variety, sugar and alcohol content. On average, the density of wine at 20°C is lower than that of water (998.3 kg/m3). This means that the wine will be lighter than water and will flow from the top glass to the bottom glass, just like oil. But if you use a very dense or sweet wine (e.g. port or cahor), its density may be higher than that of water and then it will flow from the bottom glass to the top glass.
In any case, the liquids will not mix with each other because of the interface. The water will turn red from the dye, and the wine will retain its color (white, pink or red). You will get an interesting effect of layers of different colors. #science #experiment
