With less than two weeks until Donald Trump returns to power, the incoming president is looking to enter the Oval Office with a clean slate – and he’s set up one final legal battle to make that happen.
His lawyers have sought to keep special counsel Jack Smith’s final report on investigations into Trump out of the public eye. And an ally in the Florida court system has given him an assist.
U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, a Trump appointee, temporarily blocked the report’s public release as an appeals court weighs the legal challenge.
As Reggie Cecchini reports, according to one expert her ruling may not be lawful.
