First, bring fluff, lots of fluff, and then sweet talk, lots of sweet talk. So, maybe that’s not having an instant affect, since he's not moving. Perhaps a few beak nibbles. Then wait, be patient, be polite, be more patient and finally beg…and shazam! The nest is yours for sitting.
Next time around let’s make it even better…more fluff of course. It worked before. Start the sweet talk. And keep an eye on those neighborhood ravens…even in the midst of such a serious process, the ravens need to be kept in line. Give those ravens their own kind of sweet talk, with lots of full-throated warnings to stay away buried in the middle. Then getting back to the matter at hand, try a little begging while circling around him, closer and closer…and if he budges even a little, get in and take over quickly before he changes his mind.
Even more fluff will probably help soften the process. Then lots of soft twerpling (Jackie’s very own special sweet talk). Watch the ravens, so you can pretend you aren’t trying to get him up. Stare at your feet. Be patient. Ignore that he is pretending to not notice that you want him to get up. Beg sweetly as you cuddle up to him. Nibble, nibble when he squeals his complaints…and finally, you can take over.
It's almost dark now. So, maybe no fluff will be better this time. And instead, focus on the sweet twerpling. It’s getting too late in the day for a lot of patience, so make the twerpling softer and softer as he begs to stay, showing you how busy he is fixing the nest fluff. Crowd him in, snuggling up, he wants to stay the night, but no, snuggle more…yep, that worked. He gives up with a sigh…and you’re in for the night.
Roll the eggs and wiggle down on them for a nice long night on the nest…at least there is no new snow coming.
