Automatic transmission fine metal shavings, is this normal wear and tear? If you see metal chunks, shiny metals, broken metals it means something is broken in your transmission. Black metal shavings is considered normal wear. Metal shavings are collected by a magnet on the transmission pan drain plug, inside the bottom of the pan or sometime on the transmission filter (not a good spot for a magnet).
