The longest bridge on the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway project in Virginia is 2,133 feet long and set to open to traffic in September. This bridge's 160 beams and 6.8 million pounds of steel span the travel lanes of I-66 East and West, I-495 North and South general purpose and express lanes, and the WMATA Metrorail Orange line tracks. In December 2016, the Virginia Department of Transportation awarded a 50-year concession contract to I-66 Express Mobility Partners to design, build, operate and maintain 22.5 miles of I-66 from I-495 to Gainesville. I-66 EMP is comprised of Cintra, Meridiam, John Laing Plc. and APG. This public-private partnership project being constructed by partner FAM Construction LLC, a joint venture between Ferrovial Construction U.S. and Allan Myers VA, will enable 2,000 to 4,000 more people an hour to move through the I-66 corridor outside the beltway.
