All this mix of styles has actually formed a pretty clear and even seasonal pattern in my life:
Black, death, gothic and doom metal are my soundtrack for late winter and early spring.
Late spring and early summer - dark folk, instrumental and dark country
Summer and early fall — it’s all about dark electro.
Late fall and early winter — post-punk, minimal wave, and darkwave.
The only common thing between all of these genres - melancholic, gloomy, dark sound.

Actually, my very first encounter with goths was when I was 7, in Germany — I saw a group of dark, weirdly dressed people and was really struck by them. But in my hometown, goth culture never really crossed my path. Not until that day my friend came over.
I had to do a lot of digging myself, spending hours on weird sites and forums trying to find that same strange, underground, heavy sound.

At the time, there were maybe two people in my life who really “got” that kind of music — and they were way older than me. I got so into dark electronic music that metal kind of disappeared from my playlists for a few years. Sure, I still listened to it here and there, but most of the time I was into aggrotech, dark electro, EBM, synthpop, and futurepop with bands like Agonoize, Grendel, Black heaven, X-rx, Suiside Commando, Freakangel, Wumpscut so on. And on particularly melancholic days, I’d go for post-punk, deathrock and darkwave with mostly classic bands.

Tell me about your music taste and favorite bands in the comment section. See you in my next video, bye
