Style Council was founded in 1983 by Paul Weller, who beforehand was already quiet successful with a more punk related band called "The Jam" as well as Mick Talbot, who was keyboarder at "Dexys Midnight Runner. The new project offered those guys the possibility to go more in a soulful direction.

"Shout To The Top" was released as part of an "Original Movie Soundtrack of "Vision Quest".
