Cheb Mimo is a versatile artist whose eclectic taste in music has been influenced by his global upbringing. With roots in Algeria and Tunisia, having lived in France and Mexico, and currently is based in London, he has been collecting music records and cassettes from all corners of the world since a young age. Throughout his extensive exploration of various musical genres, Cheb Mimo has developed an even deeper appreciation for his roots and his rich North African cultural heritage. His love for Raï music is evident in his radio shows, club nights, and publications, where he enthusiastically shares its unique sounds and rhythms with a wider audience. Cheb Mimo, “Cheb” (meaning “young”) in homage to notable Raï musicians, is also the co-founder and resident DJ of “Raï-naissance,” a club night in his hometown Tunis that is quickly becoming a crowd favorite.

“Being Algerian and Tunisian, Raï has always been a part of my life. It has accompanied all of my family gatherings and parties with friends throughout my childhood, teenage and young adult years.
