Akai Tracks Vol. 2 - Welcome to my Akai Tracks Vol. 2 album, marking a significant change in my production journey. This collection represents a departure from my previous experimental and eclectic stuff, which, while cherished by a niche audience, struggled to find a wider platform. For over two decades, I delved into music that pushed boundaries and challenged norms, but despite my passion, it felt like an uphill battle with no tangible progress.
About four years ago, I reached a crossroads. Frustrated and contemplating leaving IJO project altogether, I found myself at a creative impasse. Without the necessary hardware, I felt constrained by the limitations of producing solely on a computer. However, fate intervened when a friend offered me his AKAI S1000 sampler, reigniting my creative spark and prompting me to rebuild a modest hardware setup.
It was during this pivotal moment that I made a conscious decision to streamline my focus. Drawing inspiration from my earliest musical influences, - the nostalgic allure of old-school jungle from the '90s, I committed myself to a singular genre. No longer driven solely by experimentation, I aimed to create music that resonated with the jungle community—a sound that was both authentic, accessible and danceable.
This shift in approach proved transformative. Gradually, I began to attract attention from reputable labels, fulfilling a lifelong dream of releasing music on 12" vinyl. This album, initially released as a limited edition cassette tape, features exclusive tracks not available in the digital version.
