62 years ago this week history was made, when Charlie Watts played his first gig as an official member of the Rolling Stones at the Ealing Club. Charlie took to the stage with Mick, Keith, Brian and Bill and the lineup that would take the world by storm in a matter of month was complete. “I wanted to play drums because I fell in love with the glitter and the lights, but it wasn’t about adulation. It was being up there playing.”
