Method:
L1 Say - "Car" for crotchets, "shh" for rests and 'brum, brum' for quavers, "metropolis" for semiquavers, "li-ghts" for minim and count 4 beats for whole note, say 'ci-ty' for dotted rhythm with extra time on the first syllable and 'skyscraper' for triplet where the syllables are evenly spread within the beat.
L2 Say and Play (Clap or Tap or use instruments)
L3 Play (Clap or Tap or use instruments) Say rhythm using thinking voices if necessary.
Suitable for KS2 and beyond to secure synchronicity to music with the beat of the track.
Extra Challenge: Ask the students to come up with their own sound words and actions for the symbols.
Go to playback speed and try at 0.5 or 1.25 for different tempo challenges.
