Rachel Wall: Born around 1760 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, Rachel married George Wall and settled in Boston. Together, they turned to piracy near the Isles of Shoals off New Hampshire. Rachel would feign distress on their ship to lure unsuspecting vessels; once aboard, the crew would rob and kill the rescuers. Between 1781 and 1782, they captured 12 boats and killed 24 sailors. After George's death in 1782, Rachel returned to Boston, continuing her thievery. In 1789, she was arrested for robbery and became the last woman hanged in Massachusetts.
Lyrics:
Come gather 'round, ye sailors bold
And hear the tale I’ll now unfold
Of Rachel Wall, the pirate queen
Who sailed the seas with a wicked gleam
Born to the land, yet drawn to the sea
A fisher’s daughter, wild and free
But life ashore held no grand dream
She turned to the waves, where gold would gleam
Yo-ho, yo-ho, with a heart so cold
Rachel Wall, her tale we’ve told
From Boston’s bay to the stormy squall
Beware the ship of Rachel Wall!
Yo-ho, yo-ho, through the tempest and squall
Here comes the ship of Rachel Wall!
With blood-red sails and hearts of steel
She ruled the waves with ruthless zeal!
She married George, a sailor brave
Together they sought fortune’s wave
In 1781, their plan was born
To plunder ships and riches scorned
They’d lure the ships in rocky bays
With Rachel's cries in distressful ways
"Help us!" she’d scream through winds that howled
While pirates hid, both fierce and fouled
Yo-ho, yo-ho, with a heart so cold
Rachel Wall, her tale we’ve told
From Boston’s bay to the stormy squall
Beware the ship of Rachel Wall!
Yo-ho, yo-ho, through the tempest and squall
Here comes the ship of Rachel Wall
With blood-red sails and hearts of steel
She ruled the waves with ruthless zeal!
Three ships they sank, by cunning hand
Plundering treasures from every land
But fate was cruel, as storms did rise
And soon the sea claimed George’s prize
Rachel alone now carried the fight
With her ruthless crew in the dead of night
But Boston’s shores would be her end
Captured and tried, no law to bend
Yo-ho, yo-ho, with a heart so cold
Rachel Wall, her tale we’ve told
From Boston’s bay to the stormy squall
Beware the ship of Rachel Wall!
Yo-ho, yo-ho, through the tempest and squall
Here comes the ship of Rachel Wall!
With blood-red sails and hearts of steel
She ruled the waves with ruthless zeal!
On Gallows Hill, her fate was sealed
The pirate queen refused to yield
"I harmed no man," she tried to plea
But they hanged her high for piracy
The last woman hanged in Boston town
Rachel Wall wore a pirate’s crown
Her tale lives on, fierce and bold
Of a woman who sought fortune and gold
Yo-ho, yo-ho, with a heart so cold
Rachel Wall, her tale we’ve told
From Boston’s bay to the stormy squall
Beware the ship of Rachel Wall!
Yo-ho, yo-ho, through the tempest and squall
Here comes the ship of Rachel Wall!
With blood-red sails and hearts of steel
She ruled the waves with ruthless zeal!
So raise a glass to Rachel’s name
Her pirate life, her fearless fame
Though she’s gone, her legend thrives
On the salty seas, her spirit survives
