1966: The Rolling Stones' third US No. 1 hit, 'Paint It, Black', began a two-week stint atop the US singles chart. It was the first UK number 1 hit to use a zither in the recording.
Almost forty years later, in 2004, Paint It Black was ranked number 176 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
In a fun fact about Paint it Black, Mick Jagger got the line "I have to turn my head until my darkness goes" from the chorus, from James Joyce's Ulysses .
